My Thoughts On 2021 Top 10 Most Searched Movies On Google

Here is what I think about 2021 top 10 movies according to Google search trends.

As the world started to return to normal after the pandemic in 2020, cinemas resumed to near full capacity with movies like Eternals making $161.7 million in its first opening weekend. Hollywood studios unleashed a barrage of blockbusters that were either cancelled from showing in 2020 due to the pandemic or delayed for the same reason.

2021 was a year to recoup for both cinema house and film production houses; this year has seen more blockbuster movies than other years. In this article today, I will be sharing with you 2021 movies that attracted the most search on Google and also my opinion on the ones I have seen – which will be most of it.

Shall we begin…

Most Searched Movies On Google For 2021

10. Army of the Dead

In the wake of a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries decided to take a gamble, going into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever recorded. Zack Snyder is famous for being meticulous about his work and he delivered as expected.

I enjoyed seeing Army of the Dead; it was fun, suspense-filled and entertaining.

9. Godzilla vs. Kong

Godzilla vs. Kong was the next chapter in the cinematic Monsterverse sequel that shows the clash between these mythic adversaries. I enjoyed the final battle when Godzilla and Kong had to settle their beef and work together to save what’s left of the world.

8. Halloween Kills

David Gordon Green is back with a follow-up of  Halloween (2018 ) with Halloween Kills. He seems to have done a botched job though as different critics believe that this newest addition to the franchise missed the entire John Carpenter’s original concept. I haven’t seen it but I doubt I will considering the ratings and reviews I have seen online.

7. Cruella

I thoroughly enjoyed Cruella, I found it entertaining. The movie follows the story of young Cruella de Vil who became an orphan at a young age but befriended some young thieves with whom she built a life on the street of London.

The movie is a backstory about how the Disney villain became the raucous and revenge-bent Cruella. Aside from enjoying the storyline, I loved the costume, makeup and hairstyles in the movie; it is a very fashionable film deserving an Academy Awards for Best Costume.

6. Mortal Kombat

For someone who wants more out of a movie aside from the actions and all, I would say this video game adaptation did well in standing alone. The movie represented the video game version well with the gruesome appeal associated with the franchise, complete with some combo fighting moves taken directly from the games.

If you are a fan of the game, you will enjoy the movie…but if you are not, you might find it quite boring.

5. Red Notice

For a movie with such big stars, you would have expected more. Although a lot of people have seen Red Notice (thanks to Netflix), it’s not one of the movies that will be nominated for an Oscars. The director Rawson Marshall Thurber had everything to make the movie a blockbuster, but he forgot a necessary piece called – personality.

I enjoy watching all of Ryan Reynolds’s movies but this is one of the few I have seen that was very basic. I would recommend this movie as the last option for you to see if you have nothing else you can watch.

4. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

This right here is one of the best movies Marvel has made after Black Panther, Captain AmericaThe winter soldier and Thor: Ragnarok. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, it is the first Asian superhero Marvel movie. The movie has a deeply human spark that embraces the immense soulfulness most MCU movies lack.

I enjoyed the storyline, the fights, the family values portrayed and the way the writers were able to link the story to other Marvel characters. This is one movie I will recommend to anyone.

3. Dune

Dune is an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 book with the same name. The film is set in a distant future where humans have evolved in many scientific aspects and mutated in various spiritual ways. It got an 83% on rotten tomatoes but critics find the movie both dazzling and frustrating, let’s not forget humorless.

I enjoyed the story and the suspense was killing me, I was shocked though when the movie ended just when it was beginning. The director Denis Villeneuve did a good job with such a daunting and complex novel. I look forward to seeing the next part, although I wish Jason Momoa had played a more major role.

2. Black Widow

Black Widow is a Marvel movie that was long overdue; I mean, Thor, Captain America, and Iron man all had three standalone movies, why not Natasha Romanoff? The movie finally hit the cinema sometime in July 2021, and It had people glued to their seats – at least I was.

The movie had an 82% rating on rotten tomatoes and you could almost feel the real chemistry between Johannsson and Florence who played siblings. I enjoyed both the endearing warmth and the muscular action moments.

1. Eternals

In my opinion, Eternals was supposed to be one of the best Marvel movies but it turned out to be one of the worst I have seen. The superhero film directed by Chloé Zhao had her distinct aesthetic imprint but didn’t meet the requirements of a massive action spectacle.

The whole storyline looks rushed and the plot is scattered. I liked the cinematography though, Ben Davis outdid herself – like she always does by bringing life to the story.

In conclusion, 2021 had some really great movies that I will recommend you watch, you can begin with the good ones on this list. You may also like to read, 5 Curvy Girl Looks From Danielle Brooks Of Orange Is The New Black.
